Instant Attraction: Craftsman Bungalow by Nickey Kehoe

This beautiful overhaul of the interior of a Craftsman bungalow in Venice, CA by Nickey Kehoe was featured in the February 2012 issue of House Beautiful.  The designers began by brightening up the interiors with white paint, which neutralized the Craftsman architecture.  They highlighted ceiling beams and mouldings with black paint and grounded the rooms with deep brown black wood floors, then added a beautiful selection of furniture and textiles.  I love the the black, white, and muted neutral palette with pops of the right colors.

House Beautiful has posted a video showing before an after shots of this project so you can see just how incredible the transformation was.

The Wild West wallpaper in the son's bedroom is so fun!  It's called Cowboy, by Cath Kidston.  The blue wall in the master bedroom provides a nice counterpoint to the neutral black and white palette of the rest of the home without being over-the-top, and the gray-green family room looks so inviting.  I'd love to curl up on that sofa with a book.

It's well worth heading over to the Nickey Kehoe website to check out their other work.  They create beautiful, warm, inviting interiors.  I'm glad to have seen this article - they're now definitely up there at the top of my list of favorite interior designers.  They also have a lovely shop and an even lovelier visual diary where they share images to share how and why their vision and inspiration are created.
